Do you sand before aqua coat?
Surface Preparation: Surface must be clean and dry (free from all dirt, oil, wax, and polish) before using the Aqua Coat Clear Wood Grain Filler. Sand surface thoroughly. Remove all dust with a vacuum, forced air, or a damp cloth (water).
Is one coat of Aqua coat enough?
The product starts to fill the grainy cracks in two to three coats, but if you want to smooth out the grain on your oak cabinets even more, you’ll need to apply additional coats. Most of my customers want to reduce the grain without visible cracks in the paint, so two to three coats is good enough for that purpose.
Can you paint aqua coat grain filler?
Answer: Yes the Aqua Coat Grain Filler can be used over paint. You must let it completely dry for at least 1 day. Then lightly sand the paint with 320 grit sand paper and apply 2 coats of the Grain filler lightly sanding again immediately before you apply your next coat and prime and paint again.

Does Aqua coat take stain?
Fill open grain wood with Aqua Coat Clear Grain Filler. Using the filler before you stain will inhibit the stain’s ability to penetrate into the wood grain. This would be desirable if you are trying to minimize the contrast of grain. Brush, wipe, spray, or dip.
How long does it take for aqua coat to dry?
What is the dry time? Give your cabinet 45 minutes to an hour to completely dry before applying your next coat of grain filler. For optimal performance, after you have applied your final coat of grain filler, and before you sand and apply your primer, we recommend you let it set/dry overnight.
