Whats the difference between a galgo and podenco?
What is the difference between a galgo and a podenco? In general galgos tend to be more greyhound like (laid back and lazy) and podencos more lurcher like (full of fun for the more active family). Some podencos can be really quite small and very cute! (small, as in jack russell size).
Is a galgo a greyhound?
The Spanish galgo breed and the English greyhound breed look very similar but they are two completely different breeds of dogs that originated in different parts of the world. They both are sighthounds which means that they hunt by sight and speed as opposed to dogs who hunt by smell and endurance.
Is a galgo faster than a greyhound?
As for running, Greyhounds are sprinters and can hit up to 45mph for very short spurts. Galgos are endurance runners and can range around the 40+mph for long distances, even over rough terrain.
Can podencos live with cats?

The galgo has a slender and agile body designed to perfection to run at speeds of up to 65 kilometers an hour (40 miles an hour). Running is their passion and they like to run at full speed during short periods of time. They then need to rest and recover in a soft bed or the owners favourite sofa.

Galgos have a higher body temperatura than any other dog breed. They are excellent jumpers. There have been galgos that have jumped 9,14 meters high.
