How do I register for ABRSM?
How to create a candidate account
- Use the candidate’s name to create the account – not the parent or carer’s.
- Enter the candidate’s unique ABRSM Contact ID and date birth when creating the account.
- If you don’t know a candidate’s Contact ID, ask the applicant who booked their most recent exam.
Are ABRSM exams still online?
Although Grade 1 to 5 exams now take place online and some of the questions have been updated, we are still testing the same musical knowledge and understanding to the same standards.
Are ABRSM exams Cancelled?

Is ABRSM used in the US?
A lot of the music published as advanced in the US is around Grade 6/7 standard ABRSM (based on current exam syllabus), Grade 5/6 standard AMEB/Trinity Guildhall.
Can I enter myself for ABRSM exam?

What happens if you fail ABRSM exam?
Really, nothing at all happens if you fail. You can carry on learning, you can take exams if you want (same grade, different grade; and if the same grade, you can use the same pieces or choose new ones [depending on when the syllabus changes]). The examiner doesn’t want to fail you.
How do I book an ABRSM exam online?
Register and create an account, if you don’t have one already. Log in to our exam booking service and click Public Venue. You can then enter your exam details, choose your exam submission date for Performance Grades and ARSM, enter your candidate details, and book and pay for your exams.
How long does ABRSM syllabus last?
Candidates worldwide may use the old* syllabus until 31 December 2023. All three pieces and scales and sight-reading must be from the same syllabus.
