Can you connect two XLR cables together?
Joining multiple XLR cables (daisy-chaining) is possible. It provides a solution to not having long enough XLR cables to reach a required distance, from a microphone to a sound source, or another device. Daisy-chaining XLR cables shouldn’t have too much of an impact on sound quality on distances less than 50 meters.
Can XLR be split?
XLR splitters work by splitting and sending one audio signal into two or more destinations. In its simplest form, two or more XLR connectors are connected in parallel to a single XLR connector. This means multiple XLR connectors share the same audio signal from one source.
Does XLR carry a stereo signal?
XLR cables are primarily used to transmit a balanced mono audio signal from one device to the other. They can also be used for stereo signals. The only caveat is that when XLR cables are used for a stereo signal, the signal will become an unbalanced audio signal.

How long can you run an XLR cable?

Can you extend a microphone cable?
While any TRS extension cable will work, if you’re using it for a microphone extension, it should be shielded. Otherwise it will pick up a lot more noise. I recommend this cable that is specifically designed as a microphone extension.
Can you split a microphone input?
Splitting at mic level can be done, but it’s inherently a (slightly) more compromised approach. The best way, by far, is to use a decent transformer-based mic splitter, which typically provides one direct and one or more electrically isolated output(s).
Can you split balanced outputs?
You can split an audio output, balanced or not, to feed multiple inputs, as long as the resulting load impedance (from the parallel input impedances) is within the signal source’s capability. Each input will receive the same voltage.
Is XLR mic stereo?
