How do I book an appointment at Sandyford Glasgow?
By phone. For general enquires and appointments please call 0141 211 8130. If you are phoning to make an appointment you will be offered the next available appointment. If you cannot make that appointment you will be asked to call back the next day.
Is sandyford open at the weekend?
Our door is currently kept locked although will be open Monday to Friday from 8:45am to 6:00pm if you have been given permission to attend an appointment (Except a Tuesday when we close at 1:00pm); we are closed at weekends and on public holidays.
Do family planning clinics do smear tests?
You can get a smear test at your GP surgery, or at family planning or NHS sexual health (GUM) clinics.
How long do STI results take Scotland?
Some STIs can be diagnosed there and then (e.g. genital warts). Some clinics offer same day testing and most results are available within a few days but some test results can take up to two weeks.

You can get a contraceptive implant fitted or removed:
- at a contraception or sexual health (GUM) clinic.

How much is a private smear test?
Causes. A consultation is included in the smear price of £195 so the doctor will give you a follow up call once the results arrive. In case your smear shows any abnormalities, you will discuss options for future steps including possible referrals.

Do positive STI results take longer?
By six months after infection, most people will turn positive on an antibody test. Once you get a test, the turnaround time for test results also varies. Some rapid STI tests can give results within an hour. Other STI results make take up to two weeks to come in.
Can your GP test for STDS?
If you are worried that you have an STD or STI one option is to go to your GP. However most GPs will not offer tests on site and will direct you to a GUM (Genito Urinary Medicine) clinic for testing (and there is only one reason why you will go there).

Can you pay privately for a cervical smear?
To book a free NHS smear test, call your GP. Alternatively, you can book a private smear test. Many of our hospitals offer smear tests and we also offer them as part of our 360+, 360 and Female Health Assessment.
