How do I renew my CDA?
We highly recommend applying for CDA renewal online. You will be able to upload your documents directly into your online application, submit payment electronically and track your progress. You may also renew your CDA credential by mailing in a paper application.

What happens if my CDA Credential expires?
If your CDA Credential expires, you will have to reapply to obtain a new credential. • Candidates should submit their renewal application on or before their expiration date. • Candidates can submit their renewal application up to 6 months before their expiration date.
Can I Change my Name on my CDA Credential?
Name Change (optional): If your name is different from how it appears on your current CDA Credential, please fax official documentation to show proof of this change. Example: Marriage certificate or divorce decree. Please note, this proof must be received BEFORE you submit your application.
How long is my CDA valid for?
Your CDA® is valid for three (3) years from the award date so it is very important for you to renew your CDA Credential before it expires to remain an active CDA. The Council must receive your application by the expiration date to be accepted.
Is a CDA certification worth it?
The great thing about having a CDA is that it is a national certification. I started in Florida and then moved to Louisiana where it was recognized and did help me in finding a job at the local Child Starting a new job in the childcare arena was exciting!
