- Loosen the wing bolt (fig 3) that adjusts the clamp, then lift your bass drum to where the pedal will slide in.
- With the bass drum lifted, slide the clamp onto the hoop and tighten the wing bolt enough to where the pedal won’t slide around.

Where should the beater hit the bass drum?
As a general rule the beater should strike the bass drum slightly higher than center. About an inch above works for most folks. If the beater hits directly on center the head tends to bounce more and it flams against the head easier if it is buried into the head.

I prefer mine to swivel for many, many reasons. One is that when I turn, I want my stool to turn with me with no resistance. If it doesn’t do that, then it becomes an obstacle and my playing suffers a little bit.
