How do you get to Trestles Beach?
Exit 405 freeway at Christainitos Road at the south end of San Clemente. The trail to Trestles beach is located just off Christainitos Road across the parking areas’ freeway bridge. There are a (parking fee required) parking lot and some free street parking. The parking lot fills up fast, so arrive early on weekends.
Is Trestles hard to surf?
The rocky seafloor isn’t dangerous if you take care. It’s almost possible to surf Lower Trestles every single day of the year. And because left-handers are shorter, it’s easier to paddle out via the north side of the peak. If you’re tired of Lower Trestles, you’re probably tired of surfing and life.
Is trestles beach dog friendly?
It has a nice wide trail going down to the beach and a nice, wide sandy area. Best of all, dogs are allowed on the beach at this spot. If you are camping, make sure to buy firewood at the ranger station. The park is also a great place to ride bikes.

The best tide for surfing in most cases is low, to an incoming medium tide. Keep in mind low-tide on shallow surf breaks jack the waves up higher, leaving less room between the water’s surface and ocean bottom. Always know the area you’re surfing and avoid shallow reef and rock obstacles if possible.
Does Crystal Cove allow dogs?
Dogs ARE ONLY WELCOME on the 3-mile paved multi-use bluff trail on the coastal side of Pacific Coast Highway, in parking lots, on the ramps, or on any paved surfaces, and must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are NOT PERMITTED on any of the backcountry hiking trails, on the beach, or at the Beachcomber Café.
Can I bring my dog to San Clemente beach?
The two beaches that dogs are allowed at in San Clemente are Bluffs Beach and San Onofre State Beach. Bluffs Beach has six different hiking trails that lead down to the beach, but dogs are allowed only on beach one and beach six. Remember to keep your dog on a leash at all times while visiting!
