How long is an I-20 form valid?
The signature on page 2 or 3 of the OPT I-20 is valid for 6 months from when it was signed. If your re-entry date is within 6 months from the last signature, you will be eligible to re-enter on that I-20. However, if you re-enter after the 6-month time frame, a new travel signature is required.
How do I know if my I-20 is valid?
The I-20 must be valid during the period of enrollment. The period of the I-20 is listed on the first page of the form. The visa period is on the visa stamp. These two validity periods are not necessarily the same.

If a student completes the program of study prior to the completion date, the I-20 will automatically expire on the date the student completes. A student has an automatic grace period of 60 days upon the completion of studies.
Is I-20 amount for 2 years?
When the I-20 is issued, some schools make it for 9 months and another issue for 12 months. In above case, I-20 is issued for 9 months, with total fee of $28,500 ($15,992 Tuition + Living + Books + Insurance) for total of 18 credits. Credits are Explained below.
How many times can I extend my I-20?
The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) allows for an extension period of up to one year.
What happens if my I-20 is terminated?
If your SEVIS (or I-20) is terminated OR you overstay your grace period, you could be accruing unlawful presence. This can lead to arrest and deportation proceedings. Accruing unlawful presence may result in being barred from the U.S. for many years or even permanently.
Is printed I-20 valid?
Presenting your electronic I-20 on your phone, tablet or laptop will not be accepted for any official purpose. Your I-20 must be printed on high-quality, standard US paper (8.5 inches wide by 11 inches long). We do not recommend using A4 paper or another size paper when printing your I-20.
How much is I-20 per year?
It depends on the amount shown in your i20. Lets assume the amount shown on i20 is 20k $ and since you have to show 1 year funds, you must also account for cost of living for 12 months. A generally safe figure would be multiply this by 1.5 . So 20 ×1.5 = 30 k $ will be on the safer side.
How much is the fee for I-20?
In effect, your university does the same when they offer you the admission and provides you the SEVIS Number on the I-20. On the students’ part, students are required to pay the SEVIS Fee, which is at present at USD 350.
