Are DeWalt 20V MAX tools good?
All in all, they’re very good, commercial grade tools. You won’t be disappointed with them. They’re lighter than the older 18 volt sets. An on board bit holder on the drill would be nice and I don’t understand why DeWalt didn’t incorporate it into this newer design but that and the canvas bag are my only gripes.

155 of 157 found this helpful. Do you? the main difference is the 20v XR tools have brushless motors while the standard 20v max tools have brushed motors. the brushless motors are more energy efficient and generate less heat, the advantage being extended run time / battery life.
Are DeWalt XR tools any good?
All in all, DEWALT 20-Volt MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Drill/Impact Combo Kit this is a great set. The power and efficiency of both the drill and impact driver exceed most drills out on the market. Priced at $249, this is not a kit that I would recommend to the beginner DIY.
