What happens when two creatures with Deathtouch?
If a creature with deathtouch and another creature both block or are blocked by a creature, the other creature may take into account the fact that any combat damage dealt by a creature with deathtouch is considered to be lethal damage.
How does fight work with Deathtouch?
The damage is dealt simultaneously, and it is dealt by the creatures themselves, so abilities like deathtouch, lifelink, and infect will work as normal. Damage dealt while fighting is not combat damage, so abilities like first strike or Double strike won’t have any effect.
Does fling work with Deathtouch?
Fling. That is a spell which uses the creature’s power as the amount of damage, yet the damage is actually coming from a spell, not the creature. In this case, since Fling is the source of damage, Deathtouch/Lifelink are irrelevant.
Does protection protect against Deathtouch?
As we discussed a few weeks ago, protection does several things, such as preventing all damage from any source it has protection from. That means that deathtouch will not apply, as damage that is prevented is not considered dealt.

No, deathtouch causes “lethal damage” to creatures, indestructible creatures cannot be killed by “lethal damage”.
Does First Strike prevent Deathtouch?
Deathtouch only “works” when the deathtouch creature deals at least one point of damage, so if the first strike creature deals enough damage to kill the deathtoucher, then it dies before dealing any damage. So in that sense, yes, it negates it.
Does Hexproof negate Deathtouch?
No it doesn’t. Deathtouch on a creature just means that if that creature deals damage to another creature, be it combat or non-combat, that the creature dealt damage will be destroyed. The deathtouch ability doesn’t target anything so hexproof will not save a creature dealt damage with deathtouch.
Can an instant destroy an indestructible creature?
Normally, a creature is destroyed if it takes damage from a creature with deathtouch. But since indestructible creatures can’t be destroyed, they’re immune.
Does Deathtouch work with 0 power?
If a creature with deathtouch has zero power, it can’t deal damage and thus cannot destroy an attacking or blocking creature.
Is Deathtouch good on green creatures?
This makes deathtouch particularly effective against green, since green has a surplus of beefy creatures, but it really can be good against any specific color. What’s important is that it’s a tool to defend or punch through when size alone won’t help you.
Can a pinger of Deathtouch kill a creature it damages?
Yes, if the pinger receives deathtouch from another source it kills any creature that it damages. This interaction can be seen in Constructed with cards like Walking Ballista and Vault of the Archangel or Basilisk Collar that grant deathtouch.
What creature can grant Deathtouch to spells?
The only creature to grant deathtouch to spells, Pestilent Spirit was played in some decks where you have effects (usually sorceries) that deal damage to each creature, resulting in a board wipe. Plus its deck had menace tribal, which spirits can take part too.
Is first strike or Deathtouch better for my creature?
Of course, these aren’t the only two. First strike also plays nice with deathtouch, letting your creature bring down whatever it’s tangling with before it ever takes damage. Deathtouch can be a bit more synergistic than something like flying or first strike.
