What is G4 filter grade?
A coarse G4 filter is designed to capture pollen, fog and coarse dust particles (≥10μm). It also captures leaves, insects, textile fibres, sand, ash, mist and hair. (Note: 10µm is 0.01mm.) Medium filters were classified according to the average efficiency (Em) of 0.4μm particles.
What is G3 filter material?
Washable polyester media that meets the industry requirements with a good service life and offers a G3 rating, meeting Australian standards AS 1668 Part 2. The polyester fibres are thermally bonded together into an interlocking pattern that traps dust and lint, while minimising surface loading.
What is G4 efficiency?
Classification of Coarse, Medium and Fine filters according EN 779:2012
| Filter Class | Final Test Pressure Drop | Average Efficiency (Em) of 0.4 µm particles |
|---|---|---|
| G4 | 250 | – |
| M5 | 450 | 40% ≤ Em < 60% |
| M6 | 450 | 60% ≤ Em < 80% |
| F7 | 450 | 80% ≤ Em < 90% |
What is the MERV rating of a G4 filter?
MERV 6-8
Air filter selection chart and Performance Ratings
| Australian Standard Ratings: AS1324.1-2001 & AS4260-1997 | U.S. MERV Ratings: ASHRAE 52.1 & 52.2 | |
|---|---|---|
| G3 | 80%-90% | MERV 5 |
| G4 | >90% | MERV 6-8 |

| F6 | – | MERV 10-13 |
What are 30% filters?
For instance, a 30% filter (based on arrestance) means that 30% of the weight of the dust has been captured. Depending on the size of the dust particles the actual number of particles (and hence the percentage of particles) captured may be substantially less.
What materials can filter air?
Different Types of Air Filter Materials
- Fiberglass.
- Activated Carbon.
- Plastics.
- Plants: Nature’s Air Filter.
- UV Light Exposure.
- Electrostatic Precipitators.
- Pet Allergies: HEPA Filter.
- Mold: HEPA Filter with UV Light.
What is F9 filter?
The F9 Synthetic Bag Filters are designed for use in HVAC systems and provides a higher level of efficiency and air filtration. This HVAC F9 Bag Filter is made up of microfibre synthetic filter media that is fixed into a galvanised metal frame.
What is the difference between a G3 and a G4 filter?
From googling, G4 is a finer filter, but is likely to be more restrictive than G3. But in practical terms which is better, or does it make little difference?
What are the classifications of high efficiency filters?
Classification of High Efficiency Filters EPA and HEPA according EN 1822:2009 Filter Class Overall Value Overall Value Local Value Local Value Efficiency Penetration Efficiency Penetration E 10 ≥85% ≤15% – – E 11 ≥95% ≤5% – – E 12 ≥99.5% ≤0.5% – –
What are the different filter classes and particle sizes?
Categorization of filter classes and particle sizes 1 pre-filters and circulation filters for civil defense shelters 2 exhaust filters for spray painting booths, kitchens, etc. 3 inlet air filters for air conditioners and compact machines (e.g. window air conditioners, ventilators) 4 pre-filters for Filter Classes M6 to F8
What are the different types of filter problem solvers?
Our ever-popular problem solvers, available in EN 779 filter classes F7,F8 and F9 and ISO 16890 filter groups ISO e PM 1, ISO e PM 2,5, ISO e PM 10! Also available in reverse-flow versions for optimum protection of (H)EPA GT filters!
