Tenacity does NOT contain any fertilizer, so if this is the herbicide you choose, you’ll likely want to also do a fertilizer application in May (refer to Option 1 above). When properly applied, Tenacity will destroy the weed but not harm your grass.
How long does it take for mesotrione to work?
Tenacity starts working within a few days. You will notice that the weeds begin to lose their green color and die. The manufacturer suggests leaving the dying weeds to compost naturally. Stubborn weeds may need a second treatment about three weeks later.
Is mesotrione harmful?
Mesotrione is practically non-toxic to avian species, small mammals, and aquatic species. It is considered relatively non-toxic to bees. Non-target plants may be at risk from its use. There are no concerns for mesotrione for terrestrial or aquatic endangered animals.
What is better than Tenacity Herbicide?
Quinclorac is better at killing established lawn weeds, especially established crabgrass, than Tenacity. It should be used in summer applications to kill mature weeds of all sizes. It should especially be used in Bermuda and Zoysia lawns, where Tenacity would kill the grass.
