How do you use Photomatix in Photoshop?
Using the plugin
- Start or restart Photoshop.
- Merge images to HDR or open an image. If you merge to HDR, do the following after merging: Set the Mode combo-box to 32 Bit. Leave the Complete Toning in Adobe Camera Raw box unchecked.
- Choose Filter > Photomatix > Tone Mapping.

Batch processing HDR: Develop module -> Select all the stacked images you want to HDR merge -> Photo -> Photo Merge -> HDR… and it will merge all of the selected images one after the other.

While the Merge in HDR Pro route is slightly longer, it really does seem to produce sharper final images and better control of ghosting. When viewed at 200% the Photoshop merge seems obviously sharper than the Lightroom merge. Using Photoshop’s Camera Raw also seems to give us finer control over the end image.
