If you get Youth Allowance as a job seeker you can earn money and still get your payment. We’ll start to reduce your payment if your income is more than $150 a fortnight. Your payment will reduce by 50 cents for each dollar of income you have between $150 and $250.

Does Youth Allowance automatically change to austudy?
If you’re getting Youth Allowance as a student or Australian Apprentice at the time you turn 25, you won’t move to Austudy. You’ll keep getting Youth Allowance until you finish your current course or apprenticeship.

How much will my parents’income affect my Youth Allowance payments?
If your parents’ income before tax is less than $47,815, your Youth Allowance payments will not be affected. If they earn more than this amount, then your payment will be lowered by 20 cents per dollar. If your parents have more than one dependent child, the situation of your siblings may affect how much you receive.
