How long does it take for the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race?
The race traditionally begins on Boxing Day and proceeds over the following 3 to 4 days. Winners of the race usually cross the finish line (in Hobart, Tasmania) in less than 48 hours. The race starts in Sydney Harbour and ends in Hobart’s Constitution Dock.
Will the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race go ahead?
The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race returns in 2021 after last year’s cancelation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In new eligibility precautions, all sailors had to be double vaccinated and had a negative Covid test before the start of the race, while any that test positive must retire.
Who can enter Sydney to Hobart?
To meet the requirements for ‘qualified crew status’ for the Sydney to Hobart Race competing sailors must have completed a category 1 approved passage. The Flying Fish crew will sail on a return passage from our base in Sydney to a waypoint 250 miles to seaward of the Australian coast.

How to watch the Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race 2021? Seven Network will be broadcasting the race live through their channel 7Mate. Coverage will begin the hour prior to the race start at 1:00pm AEDT. ABC TV will also be following the fleet down the east coast, and publish news footage from the race.
