Where is parking lot 1 at UMD?
Lots 1 (1B) and Z are located on the west end of campus near Ludwig Field.
- Take Interstates 95, 270 or 66 to the Washington, D.C. Capital Beltway (Interstate 495) to exit 5B.
- The University of Maryland is located at Exit 25 (U.S. Route 1 South toward College Park).
- Proceed approximately one mile south on U.S. Route 1.
Does UMD have free parking?
FREE PARKING If you plan to park on campus regularly, we recommend you purchase a parking permit to guarantee space. However, many campus lots are unrestricted after 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends.
Is parking free on weekends UMD?
Students can experience free UMD parking all day Saturday and Sunday and overnight from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. But at all other times, like most parking on campus, you need to get a permit to park there.

Does UMD tow?
WHEN WE TOW. Any motor vehicle parked in violation of towable offenses in the UMD parking regulations or that is in a state of disrepair or abandoned on campus is subject to removal and impoundment at the expense of the owner or operator.
Can you bring your car to UMD?
Resident permit: Allows resident students to keep their cars on campus 24/7. Overnight storage permit: Provides parking for any non-resident student needing to store their vehicle overnight on campus. Popular with students who live in apartment complexes immediately adjacent to campus.
Can freshman park on campus at UMD?
All students are eligible to register for on-campus parking. In advance of registering, please view the list of student permit types and their associated fees. Registration for fall and annual permits opens on a rolling basis according to credit level beginning in July.
Can I eat in McKeldin Library?
Food and beverages are allowed in McKeldin Library and STEM Library. Beverages (but not food) are allowed in the Shady Grove Library. Can UMD freshman have cars?
To Whom It May Concern, University of Maryland students with fewer than 30 credits who live in on-campus housing are not permitted to bring a vehicle to campus. However, freshmen who demonstrate a compelling need for personal transportation may qualify for an exception to this policy.
