To certify our products as organic, we maintain and replenish soil by using non-synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. We do this for three consecutive years before achieving certification.

Stemilt is a Native American word meaning “coming from the mountains” or “foothills to the mountains,” and Stemilt Hill is the unique locale in central Washington where the Mathison family has lived and farmed since 1893.
Where are Stemilt cherries from?
We grow dark-sweet and Rainier cherries in California’s flat lands across several counties and predominantly in Brentwood, Stockton, and the River/Delta region. California cherries wrap up by mid-June, which is a great gateway into our Washington State cherries!
Are Stemilt cherries organic?
At Stemilt, we don’t grow any of our fruits, including non-organic, with genetically modified seeds.
