Are Remington 1100 and 1187 barrels the same?
The only difference (except for some very, very early 1100s) is the action sleeve weight. The Magnum models have a heavier action sleeve. The non-magnum 1100s and the 1187 use the lighter sleeve. This is not an issue with barrels for light loads.

Remington doesn’t stock 1100 bolts anymore…..just 1187 ones. No big deal; if the extractor slot in your 1100 barrel is too narrow for the wider one, just file out the slot to fit….it’s just a clearance slot anyway.

Mark- The 1100 extractor slot only needs to be opened slightly to be able to accept the 1187 bolt. The o-ring groove being in a different spot is insignificant as far as function goes.

The 11-87 and 1100 barrels are not interchangeable. The 11-87 barrels shorter than 26″ are not equipped with a pressure-compensating gas system. They function with 2-3/4″ magnum or 3″ magnum shotshells only.

The primary difference, so far as I know, is that the 11-87 has a 3″ chamber, whereas the older 1100 has only a 2.75″ chamber.
Is the Remington 11-87 a better shotgun than the Benelli?
Remington makes a Police version of the 11-87, but this gun doesn’t seem to be nearly as popular (amongst semiauto fighting shotguns) as the Benelli, and many insist that the FN SLP (which is nothing but a Winchester Super-X variant, or as George Hill described it, a goth Browning Gold Hunter; they’re basically the same gun) is a better shotgun.
Should I buy a Winchester 1100 or Winchester 11-87?
I have both and for at least 5+ years I though the 1100 was the better gun now I feel the 11-87 is a better gun I still shoot both and have 3 1100 and 2 11-87 and hunt and shoot trap and skeet and 5 stand and belive thay are both great guns. I would buy what is in better condition and stock fits you best.
What size barrel for a 1187 trap rifle?
If the 1187 you’re being offered is a genuine Premier Trap, that means it should have a 30″ trap barrel. These barrel have a step rib. It’s slightly higher than the standard ribs. There is a slight step on it towards the rear where the slope and the top meet.
