How long does Scaletec take to work?
Scaletec Plus has proven in some pools to help loosen and dissolve away these calcium silicate deposits but this may take 3 to 6 months. It has also helped to reduce the amount of mechanical cleaning required for complete cleanup of very hard scales.
How do you use Scaletec?
Scale Removal – Quick Start Guide:
- For chlorine pools: Lower chlorine level to 1 – 3 ppm.
- For salt pools: Turn off generator for 1 – 2 weeks.
- Add Scaletec plus – use treatment chart.
- Operate pool pump as normal. DO NOT SHOCK POOL.
- Allow 2 – 4 weeks for results. No wait, swim immediately.
What does scaling look like in a pool?
Calcium scaling is an unsightly white to white-grey stain that forms on pool sides when a pool’s calcium levels and pH are imbalanced. Not to worry though, calcium scaling is an easy thing to prevent with regular water testing and balancing.
How do I stop my pool scaling?
Brush Your Pool Brushing your pool, especially plaster and pebble finish pools, is an important way to prevent scale film and nodule formation. Running pool cleaners regularly also discourages heavy scale deposits by keeping the pool surfaces, especially steps and floors, clean.
Does high pH cause scaling?
Water with a pH that’s too high also can cause skin rashes, cloudy water and scaling on pool equipment. Over time, scaling inside pipes can build up, restricting water flow and putting a strain on your pool circulation system that can lead to costly repairs.
What causes scaling in swimming pools?
Scale buildup is calcium carbonate that solidifies on pool walls and surfaces. It’s usually white or tan in color with a rough or gritty texture. Scale build up is caused by imbalanced water, particularly from having water with high Total Hardness, high pH and/or high Total Alkalinity.
What causes scale build up in pools?
Minerals like calcium commonly form ‘sheets’ of scale, covering the entire pool surface in a thin layer. The most common cause of calcium scale in pools is the result of high calcium hardness, over 400 ppm, yet is triggered by high Alkalinity, high pH and high water temperatures.
Is it OK to swim in pool with high pH?
Can you swim in a pool with high pH? Definitely, but know that chlorine in the water may not be as effective as it normally would and you may be exposing yourself to harmful microorganisms. Besides, the water can also turn cloudy and your pool sides may scale due to alkaline water.
Does Rain lower pH in pool?
Rainfall dilutes pool chemistry levels and lowers the readings for pH, alkalinity, hardness, stabilizer, and chlorine. Rainfall does not contain chlorine.
What is scaletec plus?
Scaletec Plus utilizes technologically advanced materials successfully proven in the industrial water treating industry to create the strongest scale-stain-scum remover ever. Scaletec Plus’ non-acidic and virtually phosphate-free (2.4%) components make it easy to remove buildup.
Why is my scaletec not working?
If your chlorine levels are too high this will reduce its strength as the chlorine will attack the Scaletec and reduce its effectiveness. Also, make sure you keep an eye on your water chemistry following the treatment as the calcium or stains may return later down the road if the water is neglected.
How long does it take scaletec to work?
I used it on a heavily scaled pool last year. worked great. can take up to 4 weeks but it works. Looking for more people with experience using Scaletec. It is not clearly and boldly stated that you can swim during treatment.
