Well you definitely can, I bought arkham city on release with no idea that arkham asylum even existed. I suppose the situation is a bit different now with 3 games before AK, I’d highly recommend playing arkham city if you choose to play only one of them. It’s my favorite of the 3 games and AK is the direct sequel to it so it’ll make more sense.
