But, when fished properly, this over 1,100 Acre Lake provides some great opportunity to land some nice sized bass.

Cold water salmonids, such as rainbow and brown trout, have been collected in Blue Marsh Lake. These trout likely originated from upstream areas as salmonids are stocked or occur naturally in almost all of the tributaries to Blue Marsh Lake.

Although it is a day-use only area, Blue Marsh Lake is open to fishing boats and pleasure boats of any horsepower. This 1,150-acre lake is located in the east-central part of the state, 7 miles northwest of Reading, PA.

In the daytime, most stripers are being caught on stickbaits and crankbaits. There is a group of night fishermen who cast-net for alewives and fish them under bobbers. Chicken livers fished that way have been effective, too.

Night angling is permitted; however, night launching is only allowed from the west shore boat ramp. Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass are managed under the Big Bass Program Special Regulations.

Blue Marsh Lake is open 365 days a year. The Dry Brooks Day Use Area (Swim Beach) and Visitor Center opens everyday at 8:00 AM and closes accordingly at dusk throughout the seasons.
