So recently NH8 (Western Express Highway) in India which ran from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was extended and connected with NH48. NH48 runs from Chennai, goes through Mumbai connecting to the previously known NH8, goes through Ahmedabad and straight up to New Delhi. Hence the renumbering. The complete stretch is now NH48.
