Florissant is especially noted for its delicate insect and spider fossils. Fossil plants show evidence of damage from insects similar to today. Delicate fossil butterflies and moths are very rare. Florissant has more species of these ,perhaps than any other fossil site in the world.

We spend a couple of hours there doing the main trail (about 1 mile), visiting with a very knowledgeable guide and exploring the old homestead. There were many more trails we did not go on. Great job following COVID precautions.
