How long do you wait in line at the Empire State Building?
If you just have a regular ticket the queue can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 45 minutes long depending on the time of your visit. After their reopening in July 2020, the Empire State Building is starting off with online sales only to avoid long lines and crowds at the attraction.
What is the best time to go to the Empire State Building?
To avoid the heavy crowds, you should go either right when the observatory opens at 8 a.m., around 3 p.m., or really late, around midnight — crowds tend to be thinnest at these times. It’s also a good idea to avoid weekends.
Is it better to go up Empire State Building in day or night?
If the Empire State Building is open late at night during your trip, this is a great time to take a visit here. After about 10:30 pm at night, the crowds die down, which will reduce your wait time for the elevator. However, if photography is your number one priority, you should visit in the daytime.
How long should I plan for Empire State Building?
two hours
While I recommend allowing at least two hours to visit the Empire State Building, visitors can linger as long as they’d like (closing time permitting). So don’t rush through the second-floor exhibits, and take your time enjoying the views from the observation deck.
Can I bring a backpack to Empire State Building?
ONLY carry-on size and style bags, suitcases, backpacks, duffle bags, luggage, etc., are permitted. There is no coat check, package, baggage check or holding area available. For more information about the Observatory policies, visit www.esbnyc.com.

Situated at 381 meters (1,250 feet), the 102nd-floor observatory is the highest visitors can go in the Empire State Building. This enclosed viewing platform is sixteen stories above the 86th-floor observation deck and accessed through a one-of-a-kind glass elevator.
Is the Empire State building Worth the money?
Re: Empire State Building worth the cost? I think ESB is well worth a visit. The lobby and interior are beautiful, and there is an interesting exhibit about the construction process and the history of the building. The views are tremendous on a clear day, and the gift shop is pretty good (ie not TOO tacky).
