The RBC Lounge on level 8 provides a space in the library where you can eat. Visitors are welcome to bring their own food to the snack lounge or purchase something to eat or drink from one of the vending machines to enjoy in the lounge or the adjacent outdoor south terrace.

Funded by the City of Vancouver, architects Moshe Safdie, Richard Archambault and Barry Downs won the design competition for the Vancouver Public Library (VPL), which broke ground in February, 1993 and opened to the public in May, 1995.
