What happened Tobacco Dock?
For over a century Tobacco Dock continued as a busy warehouse, but the advent of large container ships and the deep-water port at Tilbury meant that seaborne trade began to dwindle, and Tobacco Dock eventually closed its doors in 1968. Like the rest of the surrounding London docklands, the dock slid into dereliction.

The name Tobacco Dock comes from its original use as a warehouse built to store tobacco and other valuable imports from the New World.

The crazy thing was, at a Tobacco Dock show where there was no existing cloakroom built, with the build and staff costs we were losing up to £4,000 per show. We now make a little money, not much, but as we streamline the system every time it gets more and more cost effective. Lockers also help to reduce theft.
