Rift Mage is better at manipulating the flow of a fight with their immense crowd control. But Necromancers can turn dead enemies against the others and deal high amounts of spirit damage. It’s really up to what you want to do. Dorian and Solas can fill the gap of whatever you don’t choose anyway.

Should I pick RM or Rift Mage?
It depends. Rift Mage has INSANE AoE Damage, probably the highest in game, so pick RM if you want to gather up peons and murder them En Masse.
Is Rift Mage better than pull of the Abyss?
