Can you turbo a 2ZZ?
The 2ZZ loves boost. Its high stock compression ratio limits us to 7-8psi but that is still enough to put 260-280hp to the wheels. Simply upgrade your pistons and you can push any of the three turbos to its limits which means you’re near 400whp on the bigger turbos.
How much hp can a 2ZZ handle?
the 2zz is capable of making huge hp #’s, but the compression is what limits it on a STOCK engine. get lower compression pistons and your set to go upwards of 350 whp “easily”. c2power is maxing the threshold out of their 2zz, thats why the rod bearings are deforming.

No. Maximum boost you “should” run on a stock engine is around 8-9 PSI.
Is 2ZZ a good engine?
Unlike the 2AZ, the 2ZZ is built for excellent performance. It was the first four cylinder engine from Toyota to use both an aluminum block and an aluminum cylinder head which saves a ton of weight. This little engine is so excellent, Lotus used it in their Elise.

Registered. The 250-275 “safe” range is wheel horse power. Something right around 300 is probably the “safe” max limit at the crank.
Is the 2ZZ reliable?
The biggest issue with 2zz engines were the early engines had a problem with their oil pumps so see if it has a new engine or a new pump. As far as reliability, make sure they have had regular oil changes because it has a timing chain and it’s really expensive to fix if it ran without regular oil changes.
